ecosystem ecology, specifically coupled human-natural systems. I focus on the effects of land-use change in East Africa via a holistic approach working with specialists in related fields (i.e. economists, anthropologists) and utilizing both ecosystem modeling and applied ecology. Ideally, my research will provide information that will both bolster conservation efforts and positively influence the livelihoods of local people through informed land-management decisions. I enjoy climbing, mountain-biking, skiing, and photography.
