Originally from eastern Pennsylvania, Ben graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Animal Sciences in 2009. He then proceeded to veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania to pursue a career in wildlife health and management. Graduating as a VMD in 2013, he spent the following two years working in small and exotic animal private practice to better his clinical veterinary skills before committing to a more research-focused field. Throughout his education, Ben has been a strong proponent of the One Health Initiative, using a collaborative approach to address human, animal, and ecosystem health. In this regard, he has a keen interest in studying infectious diseases among wildlife, an area of ever-growing concern. Ben looks forward to exploring wildlife disease ecology as a PhD student in the lab of Dr. Colleen Webb. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, rock climbing, board games, and playing blues harmonica.
